This is America. Where a President can insult a city of 600,000 residents over his own conflicts with Representative Elijah Cummings. The truth is, our border is being run with wild incompetence and cruelty. The harder truth is, so is the city of Baltimore. Don’t all jump at once – I am a firm supporter of Baltimore, but the city has been left behind time and time again. It has seen its share of scandals and – wait, am I talking about Baltimore or our president? Truth is there are gross similarities here. And let’s get one thing straight, Washington, DC, where Trump calls home, is experiencing a historic rat infestation all over the city. Like, real rats, not the folks cycling in and out of the White house tearing our democracy apart and then running to the hills when they realize the president is Master Shredder.
As a very wise Facebooker recently said, “Baltimore deserves our own AOC or Ilhan Omar.” It is time for someone to FIGHT for the people of Baltimore and challenge the status quo. Cummings has retained support by relying on voters in Baltimore being uninformed and voting against their own self-interests. This is also how our president maintains a 40% approval rating on average – it has been reported that the educational level of Trump’s supporters averages an 8th-grade reading level. Our democracy is no longer based on facts, truth, and real issues. And Trump attacking Cummings because he has not been a strong enough advocate for Baltimore is interesting considering our country is the laughing stock of the developed world.
So what can we do? Well, we need to get informed. Those that are informed need to take an Each One, Teach Twenty-One approach. We don’t have time to just hope for the best. It is time that we as a nation get the facts, learn the issues, and challenge those who we vote into office to DO WHAT WE NEED THEM TO DO. This includes every level of elected office starting with the school PTA, city and county council, state legislatures, and our national elected officials. You want to stop having to deal with Trump and Cummings? VOTE THEM OUT. We have a rat infestation. Not just in Baltimore, not just in DC or New York – we have an infestation of rats who have pimped all of us into electing them so they can do as they please with the power we hand them. Trump is dead wrong. And now that we know better, we are dead wrong if we do nothing to change the fabric of our nation, including Baltimore.

Trump is dead wrong, but as a former cop in West Baltimore City, it’s a deplorable place man. So many old church ladies living by themselves on blocks with vacant homes. Dude is worthless. I remember hearing him speak in high school about “issues”. He talked a good game, fast forward 20 years, and the district is worse now and he gives the same lip service.
The older generation believes you have to play nice to coexist in society. “Don’t ruffle too many feathers.” It’s a very different approach to getting very different things. We’re not settling anymore and the leaders of generations before us, on both sides, don’t know what to do with that.
Except 45 is not attacking Cumming for his or anyone else’s “management” of Baltimore. We all know 45 knows nothing about Baltimore, the people there, or the actual state of what everyone keeps referring to as “West Baltimore”. The city is literally in quadrants. Charles St. splits the City east and west. Baltimore St. splits the City north and south. Within those quadrants is the strangest segregated mix of lower income, middle income, upper middle income, and super wealthy, all coexisting with nothing but a single street, (or concrete barriers) separating them. The corruption you see in Baltimore is the same as the corruption in Pittsburgh. I know because I’ve worked for and tried to navigate the political and government systems in both cities. AND 45 doesn’t know or understand any of this. Coppin State University is in West Baltimore. Johns Hopkins is in West Baltimore. My mother’s home is in West Baltimore, and none of those places are “rat infested”. That is not what he is talking about. He’s talking about a city with a lot of Black people. He just like the media and many of the television shows we have seen over the years have always chosen to focus on the “ugly” of the city, because it made for compelling stories and good ratings. What good did it do? We still have people such as this article parsing through snipets and sound bites about “everyone being uninformed”. The horribly blanket generalizations about such a wonderfully complex city is astounding. The people of Baltimore deserve better than this over simplified judgements about what everyone else thinks is wrong. I can tell you everything that is wrong, and I can tell you and show you everything that is wonderful. If people genuinely want to help, I can tell you how. AND this is not the point. The point is 45 is a racist and he is using the people, the Black people of Baltimore as a pawn to distract. The context of this entire conversation is so out of place it is insulting. Also, I find it very interesting and ironic when anyone says they were on the Police force in Baltimore and they disparage the City. The entire nation knows the Baltimore Police have consistently been a corrupt terrorist organization in the city. As a Black woman we grew up upper middle class, I was always afraid because of how they treated, set up, targeted, and profiled Black people and Black youth. The police force has just as much to do with how and why so many areas are the way they are, but that’s a whole nother article. We could do this to any city. Detroit, Chicago, DC, Oakland, etc. We are better than this.
